Gain City Sungei Kadut

Gain City has hopped onto the bandwagon of Megastores. Open early June, I have already been to the same place 3 times to date.  Lots of perks if you go now.  But before you do your purchases, get the Family card first. Coz you get to enjoy the perks (vouchers, OTO massagers, cheaper deals for add on items...etc) and earn points at the same time. The points can be used to offset your next purchase.  Application can be done over the membership counter and you get your card on the spot.

For those who don't drive, there is free shuttle service from Lot One Shopping Mall.

There are altogether 11 floors but there are only 4 floors for you to shop.  Considering how huge the floor area is, there's quite a lot of things to shop. 4th floor is not accessible by escalators, so you gotta take the lift one floor up. I got 2 packs of 1.8L fabric softener on L4 for $2 each (each customer is limited to 2 packs only). They have different deals like this all the time.

As the foodcourt is not ready yet and the nearest food is not that near, they do provide refreshments for the hungry people.

There's bread, lots of water, cookies, popcorn and candy floss.  They refill the snacks very quickly so there should be a good enough flow for everyone.

The interesting thing is this kids section where you can temporarily "park" your young and not so young ones here (there are movies / cartoons to entertain them).   But do remember to come and pick them up when you are done with your shopping.

The entire area is spacious enough to include lots of variety. So if you are moving into your new place, this would be an ideal family outing location.

Saw this but didn't buy coz it's too small for mum.  But the deal was rather good.

If you buy Samsung aircon, you can even get a Tab 3v (Wifi version) for only $88.  Ok, I must admit that eversince I move camp from IOS to Android, I have been a huge fan of Samsung. Nonetheless...

For every $100 you spent at Gain City, you get a lucky draw coupon to win a Mazda Biante. But at Sungei Kadut Megastore, you get 2 coupons for every $100 spent. Hurry down, who knows you might even end up with a car on top of your appliances.

Anything!

Found this on Facebook and I thought it's quite an interesting concept.  They are a Concierge service company and they'll do anything for you.  They pack lunches for you, pick up your friend from airport, send your laundry home..etc.  As long as it's not illegal, they'll probably do it for you.  I reckon they might even be able to find you a wife / husband if you request for it.  Here's some quick examples I grab from their webbie.

Check them out here.  Service is only available in Singapore

Back dated Malacca trip post (14-15 Nov 2014)

I have finally completed my Malacca post.  I totally forgotten about this trip until I was trying to write about another post and then lo and behold! An entire folder of Malacca photos were found hidden in my memory stick.

I normally bring along my laptop for trips blogging but I have NEVER really done any blogging while on trip coz when I got back to the hotel, I will be almost dead and dreamland is my priority destination instead of the cyber world.

That aside, please hop to Malacca 14-15 Nov 2015 for a quick read!

And here's the Bella Box March 2015 issue that was received yesterday 2 Apr 2015.

This month's box came a little late so one of the discount vouchers in there has expired (valid only until 31 Mar 2015).  Nonetheless, I'd probably get it from online sale if I really wanted the mascara.

These are the whole lot of samples in the March Bella Box!  And now to do down to the details:
1) Darlie All Shiny White Multi-Care Toothpaste
2) D'Skin Hydra-Protective Calming Cleanser & Anti-Oxidant Hydra-Youth Toner
3) Tealy Spring Green Tea

1) Benefit Cosmetic Roller Lash
2) Daylong SPF 50+ Sunscreen Duo
3) The PPP Post-Laser Facial Mask
4) Ascience Inner Rich Shampoo & Conditioner

I don't actually use all the samples.  I use those that I wanted and sell those that I don't want.  You will find them on my Carousell shop :D

Farewell to Father Singapore Mr Lee Kuan Yew

The hype should have stopped now.  When I first heard of the news, I wasn't in Singapore to feel the impact.  It only hit me when I touch Singapore land. I may not be a PAP supporter and I may not agree with a lot of policies they introduced but I cannot deny the fact that it was Mr Lee Kuan Yew who brought us to where we are today.  Without him, we would probably still be a small unknown 3rd world country that many had mistaken to be part of China.

The late Mr Lee who passed away on 23 March 2015 at the age of 91 was someone who breathed and lived Singapore.  He was one who believed that this tiny island can survive big storms.  He strengthened ties with foreign countries because he knew we cannot survive on our own...we have nothing.

His wise leadership of this nation is acknowledged by leaders from all over and can be proven by the many who came to bid him farewell.  I am glad to have grown up in his era...Yes, the LKY era and get to experienced his leadership personally.  There are those in the cyber-community who have wished him dead and had cursed him.  Well, I look down on all these keyboard warriors.  It is with much comfort that Mr Chiam See Tong, a long time opposition of PAP has turned up to pay his respect to this old friend even though he is frail.  Frankly speaking, I feared the post-LKY era because I am not sure if his legacy will be carried on by our new leaders.  Only time will tell.

The late Mr Lee's body was moved from a private funeral at Sri Temasek to the Parliament House for the public to pay their respects.  Almost 500,000 queued for up to 10 hours over the past 4 days in the hot sun to bid farewell to the great man to which we owe a lifetime of gratitude to.

To ease the crowd, 18 tributes centres were set up for all to write their tributes.  I went to the one at Marina Barrage.

The day came when the cortege leaves Parliament House for the funeral service at National University cultural centre saw many Singaporean's and friends queuing.  The heavens could not hold back it's tears.  Or should I say, the heavenlies washed the roads so our legend can have a good journey.  The heavy downpour did not stop the people from sending Mr Lee for the last time.

Pic from Straits Times
It is also during this time where the whole nation unite.  Sweet gestures were seen by corporations and random strangers.  Small actions like providing water and shade and chairs for those queuing in Padang.  Free car decals.  And even random strangers who offered a shade from the heavy downpour to a civil servant on duty. This is perhaps what the late Mr Lee would have wanted.

Many thanks to foreign dignitaries, past and present leaders for their presence.  This list is not in any particular order:
  • Li Yuanchao (China's Vice President)
  • Tony Abott (Australia's Prime Minister)
  • Narendra Modi (India's Prime Minister)
  • Shinzo Abe (Japan's Prime Minister)
  • Bill Clinton (Former US President)
  • Henry Kissinger (Former Secretary of State, US)
  • Steven Green (Former US Ambassador to Singapore)
  • Jigme Khesar Namyel Wangchuk & Jetsun Pema Wangchuk (King & Queen of Bhutan)
  • Hun Sen (Cambodia's Prime Minister)
  • Joko Widodo (Indonesia's President, present with his wife)
  • Hassanal Bolkiah (Brunei's Sultan)
  • Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah (Malaysia's King)
  • U Thein Sein (Myanmar's President)
  • Nguyen Tan Dung (Vietnam's Prime Minister)
  • Prayut Chan-o-cha (Thailand's Prime Minister)
  • Wiliam Hague (UK's First Secretary of State & Leader of the House of Commons)
  • Thongsing Thammavong (Lao's Prime Minister)
Apologies if I have missed out any.  But heartfelt thanks for your presence.

This could be my longest post ever...and trust me, I have already summarized a lot of what I wanted to say.  It could get a lot longer if I didn't  :)

Farewell Father Singapore.  I'm sure you are reunited with the late Mrs Lee already.

Gadgets: Magic Stapler

This stapler is a little bulky but I quite like it.  You don't need to buy staples (some call them stapler bullets) coz it uses the perforator (some call it hold puncher) technique.

Start by inserting your papers under the clear plastic thingie.  This baby can take up to 6 pages.  After you are done inserting press the pink lever down.
Tadah! Your papers are now stapled together effortlessly.
Close up look.  The papers were punch and little punched out pieces were slot into a slit also done by the stapler when you press the lever down.  Isn't that the most interesting stuff! I thought this is one of the most interesting invention I've seen :D
