Daiso: Miniature Satay

Ok, I'm not saying that Daiso sells miniature satay. I'm trying to say that I got something from Daiso to make the miniature satay.

Got this mini garden broom from Daiso in City Square (#Daisocitysquare).  I tried shaving toothpick to make tiny satay sticks but they kept breaking.  Out of desperation, I decided to take a quick stroll in Daiso so find inspiration. The moment I saw this little hand broom, my eyes lit up.

I wasted no time in putting the little thing to work.  Got my wire cutter out and cut out those little thistles.

After cutting them, I started putting my clay on them.  With a little beautifying to my work, tadah! Miniature clay satay!

This is the little wondrous the mini garden broom did.  I was amaze that the thistles isn't as soft as I thought.  But I'm really glad I bought it *grin*

16 'Do Not's' for the Hungry Ghost Month

Today's the first day of the Lunar 7th month or what it is more commonly know, Hungry Ghost month. The Chinese believe that this is the month where all hell break loose....I mean literally, they (let's call them Ah Piew) came out to eat, drink and be merry.  While some are born with the ability to see them, most are not. So here's some tips on how to protect yourself incase you accidentally offended them without knowing (since they can see you and you can't see them).  Some of these tips can even be used during non-hungry ghost months!
  1. Do not step on offerings (whether burnt or not)
    • It's like you are eating halfway and I step on your food.  Do you like it? Of course not!  If you have accidentally stepped on the offerings, apologise sincerely and immediately. Do not wait for the Ah Piew to follow you all the way to your home to ask for one.
  2. Do not pick up anything that don't belong to you
    • If you see a pretty piece on jewellery on the ground, do not pick it. Chances are, Ah Piew has already lived in it. Bringing it home would only mean bringing Ah Piew home as well.
  3. Pin up your bangs
    • Yah, if you hair is covering forehead, you are an easy target to the Ah Piews.  Why? Because it is believed that each person has 3 spots of fire: 1 on the forehead and 2 on each side of the shoulder.  And Ah Piews are afraid of the fire. So if your bangs is covering your forehead, you are one spot weaker...thus easier to attack.
  4. Do not turn your head when someone call you from the back
    • If you turn your head, you have just extinguished one fire spot on your shoulder. So if someone calls you and you turn one direction to see who is behind you only to realise that there is no one. And then you heard your name a second time and this time you turn the other direction, both fire spot will be gone. And if you have bangs....you are as good as gone!  If you are wondering...yes, Ah Piew know your name. They can hear your friends call you, they are not deaf.  They are also good at mimicking your good friend's voice.
  5. Do not pee in public places
    • You can pee in public toilets but not by the roadside, in the bushes or under a tree. Ie. not in nature. Yes, you might be helping to add nutrients to the plants, but imagine I was squatting in the bush day dreaming about nothing and you peed on my head. I swear, I will bet the hell of out of you.  Same principle here. You cannot see them doesn't mean they are not there.  If you really have to do it, say a sincere "Excuse me" first.
  6. Do not walk near the walls
    • There is belief that Ah Piews is too light and to walk against the wall for support, else they will float afar.  Not sure how it applies here coz aren't they support to be floating anyway? Nonetheless, better to be safe than sorry...you don't want to be cleaning the wall with your shirt and in the process comes face to face with the Ah Piew.
  7. Do not bring your open umbrella into the house
    • As Ah Piews may be hiding in your umbrella to shield themselves from sunlight or other matters harmful to them, you bringing an open umbrella into the house in directly bringing them into your home sweet home
  8. Do not comment on any scent you smell that comes from out of no where
    • Yep, you've been warned.  If the scent is from an Ah Piew and you go "Oh, what a sweet and nice Frangipani smell".  That's it...she will think you like her and follow you home.
  9. Do not open the door without checking who is outside
    • Most of our homes comes with peep hole for the door or some have installed CCTV. If you hear knocks on the door or door bell ringing, check to see who is outside.  If you don't see anyone, do not open the door. Chances are, Ah Piew wants to come in but can't because the house spirit is forbidding it. However, your kind gesture of opening the door for it, may make it feel so welcome that it doesn't want to leave.
  10. Do not listen to sutras at night
    • Some sutras makes the Ah Piew feels calm so if you on your sutras by blasting your speakers, more and more will come and listen. Your house will be a little community centre. Your house spirits may welcome them since you are so kind to blast the sutras for public ears.
  11. Do not sit on the first row of getai
    • Those VVIP seats are not for you.  The Ah Piews are having their one month vacation so leave them in peace to watch their getai.
  12. Do not comment on pics on tombstones
    • "Such a pretty girl, pity you died young." Don't ever make such comments.  She'll come and thank you personally.
  13. Do tie up your pretty flocks
    • Yes, tie them up.  You don't want any Ah Piew to be pulling them or worst, hiding in them.
  14. Do not go home too late
    •  If you are going home during the witching hours, they'll surely be kind enough to walk you home.
  15. Do not swim in the night (esp. at the beach)
    • The older generation had said that if you swim in the night, water ghost (those who drown) will take you to be it's replacement.
  16. Do not speed
    • Alright, this is applicable for non-hungry ghost month as well. For your own safety, do not speed. More accidents happen during the hungry ghost month but why let it happen when you can prevent it, yah?
I was told that carrying a sharp object (ie. scissors) can ward off Ah Piews coz they are afraid of sharp things. Sometimes I do carry but most times I forget. But I have a raw Black Tourmaline rock with me (given by a friend who runs a family fengshui chain). If you google on the properties of a Black Tourmaline rock, you will realise that it does help to prevent negativity from harming you...that includes radiation.

The "What's in my bag" mystery

Some people had gently mentioned to me that my bag weighs a ton.  Some even suggested I could basically swing my bag and hit anyone who tries to rob me and that person can die instantly...lol.  So what exactly is in my bag and why is it so heavy.  Here's the big reveal!

First of all, let me introduce my trusty little Kate Spade. Bearing in mind that I have stuffs that weighs a ton, this little thing works wonders (it's lightweight) coz I have other bags that are already heavy by itself I even place anything in there.

Tab 4 (from Qoo10) :)  For my games, google, watch Toggle, Movie Tube and well...Facebook.  I don't blog on this.  Eversince my Note 8.0 decided to retire itself, I stopped blogging on small tablets.

This is where I blog from.  It's an old Acer Ultrabook with my Microsoft Bluetooth mouse.  This set comes with only 1 USB port so I can't use a wifi mouse. As far as I'm concern, everything got to be Bluetooth...that includes the keyboard that comes with the Ultrabook.

Then there is the powerbank (from Qoo10). I like mine coz I can charge via solar energy if I couldn't find a power point.  Bought it more than a year ago so it doesn't look very good. Lots of key scratches and I lost the pouch -.-"  The other 2 batts are for my phone *grin*

I've also got lots of memory sticks! Haven't really got the time to consolidate them.  Ok, maybe I had a little time but I was too lazy.

Top row: Business card holder, card holder, wallet
Bottom row: The pouch I used to stuff my memory sticks and everything you saw in the memory sticks pic, coin pouch, keypouch

A fan and all kinds of tissues.  I've got the Biore powdered wet tissue, the normal tissue, the dry tissue and the Gatsby cool effect wet tissue (in case you are really hot).

2 pens and a little notebook to write down random stuffs.

A pouch containing stones (most stones are from StarGems).  I've got the angelite, black tourmaline stone, black tourmaline pendant, citrine, clear quartz, rose quartz, carnelian and ammonite. I have 2 pendulums with me as well (for chakra balancing).  The clear quartz phurba is used for space cleansing. All these were from my crystal grid but I'll rebuild it again.  Last but not least, there is a also a compass. So if you are in the cemetery and the compass keeps turning...get out of there!

Lastly, I've got an apple and of course my phone. I have to clarify that the apple is not always in my bag. It just happen to be there I bought nachos from Cold Storage they gave me a free apple. I kept it there as emergency.

You will notice that there are no cosmetics in my bag.  I don't really put on makeups unless necessary.  But guess what?  I have 2 drawers full of cosmetics lol!!!

Rumours: MyLot forum is paying again

Those who are familiar with forums that pays you to write would be familiar with MyLot. This forum space was born in 2006 as a forum that pays you to start threads and to respond. However, the payment was removed in 2013 when it was re-imagined. But rumours has it that it is going to return.  You won't make fortune writing in forums but it is a good pocket money income.

The best National Day song ever - Home

'Home' written by Dick Lee (and performed by many commoner and singers...more notably, Kit Chan) is probably the best National Day song ever written.  It speaks directly to the hearts from the hearts.  However, in recent years, people have started asking "Is this the home we belong to?  Is this still home?" The familiar faces that used to greet us has been replaced by strangers. Don't get me wrong, I welcome foreigners but too much of anything is always bad.

Check this 'Home' video by Starhub.  I thought it was really well done!
