Popular Singer, Coco Lee dies aged 48

The family of Coco Lee, a Hong Kong-born American singer, announced her passing at the age of 48. In a social media post, her sisters shared that Coco had been battling depression and tragically attempted suicide. Despite seeking professional help and fighting her condition, she ultimately succumbed to the internal struggle and passed away on July 5, 2023, after being hospitalized following her suicide attempt on July 2. Coco Lee had a successful music career spanning 30 years, winning the fourth season of the Chinese reality show "I Am a Singer" in 2016. She was also recognized for her iconic theme songs for Disney's "Mulan" and Lee Ang's "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon." Her sisters expressed hope that Coco would be remembered for her contributions to the international music scene and the positive impact she had on the lives of others. This is an ongoing story

Jokes without taste

I've not been writing for a while but this....I really must say something. So there's this US based standup comedian who started a whole war between Singaporeans and Malaysians due to her brainless comparison. Yes Yes, I know...if I cannot take jokes, don't watch.  Well, I've watched it so it's a little too late for the "don't watch".  Her tasteless joke about MH370 has gone way too low. You don't poke fun at people's pain.  It does not matter how long ago the tragic incident happen...the pain stays forever.  For the uninitiated, this is the video we are talking about....

My favourite standup comedians like Kumar and Harith Iskander voice out their opinions...

Please have a heart....there are people who are still grieving. What if it's your family or friends in that fateful plane?

Oh, and don't associate her with Singapore...she's not even a Singaporean.

Lego: Parisian Restaurant (10243)

With the lockdown circuit breaker measures in place, we try not to get out of the house too often.  Since I'm no longer working and my online business is a little on the slow side (coz my suppliers in the US are also in lockdown so I practically have no stock to sell), I decided to help my husband complete his Lego building exercise.

The first one is the Parisian Restaurant (Item no. 10243).  There's altogether 2,469 pieces.  Hubby did parts of it but I found him too slow so I took over the entire set.  Most importantly, he is using our dining table to fix his Lego sets so by helping him, I can quickly get my dining table back.

Since he has completed the ground floor, I worked on second floor up.

Compared to my nano bricks, this is considered easy coz the blocks are bigger and easier to find. Starting from the middle is not that hard when the instructions is so straight forward.  Interesting part about the second floor is that there is actually a murphy bed that can fold up to be a wall and down to be a bed.

Looks great when stacked on top of first floor.

Top floor, which is the attic is actually an art studio.

Front of the top floor looks like some seashell and baguette plastered together.  But I guess this is what will give it the renaissance look.

The Parisian Restaurant is completed.  It didn't take too long to complete and I quite like it!  Giving myself a pat on the back :p  Going for the second project :)

Want to build one yourself?  You can purchase it on Qoo10 here.  It's one of the cheaper authentic ones found online that is located in Singapore.  Enjoy your build!!

Product sharing: Label Printer for your Shopee, Lazada, Qoo10 business

Do you own a business that needs to generate shipping labels all the time?  Well, I own an online business on several platforms that uses Speedpost, Qxpress, Ninja Van..etc as our shipping partners.  When I first got started, I basically use a normal laser printer to print my shipping labels.  Why laser printer? You may ask.  Well, it's extremely difficult to scan ink jet printed barcodes.

Before this, I was basically printing on A4 paper and cutting excess paper away.  Needless to say, it's time consuming, expensive and not productive at all.  Since I'm in several seller groups, I decided to check out what other more seasoned sellers are using.  Realised that a good percentage of them are using thermal label printer that doesn't use toner nor ink.  So I did a little online search and found this label printer that is sooooo easy to use!  Cost me only S$184.90 (Printer at S$119.90 + 4 rolls of labels at S$65)

What I like about it:

  • Non-bulky
  • Save on ink / toner
  • Low noise production
  • Fast printing!
  • Easy installation (I'm using Macbook)
  • Low cost
  • Shipping is relatively fast as the seller is also in Singapore

I am back

Been a long time since I posted.  Back online coz I suddenly remembered this blog and mainly also because I got things to complain. Will probably hang around till I run out of things to say again.  With a little bear in tow, quite hard to find time to write anything anymore.  She sticks to me like glue but I'm not complaining.  Infact, I'm enjoying her company because she will grow out of it very soon.  I reckon that I will surely miss the days she stops saying "Mummy, carry!"

Parenting is such an interesting journey that I regretted starting late.  So all you who are still planning when to have kids...don't delay.

Donnie Chan performs 你是我最深爱的人

I have been listening to his songs for quite awhile.  I'm not trying to be biased coz he is a friend but I truly feel that he got great vocals.  You can consider him for your events.  Oh did I say he can be your emcee and guitarist too?

The pain of loosing phone without backups

Alright, I've been through this countless times. But I never did learn until not too recently when my LG G4 dual decided to die on me.  It just went blank and nothing could revive it. So I changed to Asus fonemax and my goodness!!  It's the slowest phone I've ever gotten.  But I have to give credit to the long battery life (charging takes longer too).  Got myself a Samsung J7 Prime so and far so good. Waiting of my contract to end so that I can get an iPhone.  Reason for changing to iPhone is because that way, I can synch everything to my macbook.

I've been searching for an old friend's contact but couldn't find his number (yup, my phone died and I didn't do a backup, so smart right?  I backup everything on gmail now).  Dropped him an email some time back but no response.  I came across some old photos and thought of contacting him for a quick catch up.  I seriously hope he is doing good and can reply to me as soon as possible just so I know he is ok.  Raymond!!  Where are you!
